New Available flat in Avenida de Rubine next to Plaza de Pontevedra:

Renewed Flat 20 Avenida de Rubine next to Plaza de Pontevedra: 5 Rooms (one of them has a toilet but it's small, other two are big and last two are double) (2 double rooms already reserved), 2 bathrooms and 1 toilet, TV, huge terrasse, dish washer, washing machine, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!).

Updated Accommodation List 10/08/2004 (ask for the map)

For non Spanish speaking people here's the current accommodation list:

Flat in Linares Rivas: 5 rooms available (2 rooms reserved by 2 Italian guys), 1 bathroom and 1 toilet, 2 lumber rooms, 2 terrases, 1 hall/living room, TV, Hi-Fi, heating, washing machine, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!). Great view to the port of La Coruña, best location to go to the University by bus as usual!!! Conditions, if 5 people 750 Euros per month + expenses. If there's one more person, talking to the owner needed!!! The rooms are not similar at all, so the students living there have to agree how to divide those 750 Euros. All people living there have to agree to pay the same day as they're renting a flat not a room.
Taken Flat in Ronda de Nelle by the Park of Santa Margarita: 4 Rooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 living room, balcony, 1 hall, Satellite TV, Hi-Fi, heating, washing machine, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!). Great views of La Coruña, best location to go to the University by bus as usual!!! Conditions for the available room 160 Euros + expenses. Just something: The total cost per month of the flat is 710 Euros and the cost of the rooms are 210, 180, 160 and 160 Euros, all people living there have to agree to pay the same day as they're renting a flat not a room. People living here will be in a multinational environment, A French girl, an Austrian guy, a Portuguese guy and a Belgian girl.
Flat in Ronda de Outeiro: 3 Rooms available (reserved for 1 Portuguese guy), 1 living/dining room, one bathroom, 1 hall, TV, heating, washing machine, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen. Total cost is 330 Euros, that's like 110 Euros per room but not all are the same, so you might have to agree some kind of sharing.
Flat by Plaza de España: 4 Rooms available, 1 bathroom and 1 toilet, 2 terrases, 1 hall/living room, TV, heating, washing machine, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!). Great view to the port of La Coruña, best location to go to the University by bus as usual!!! Three rooms cost 180 + expenses each, the smaller room cost 140 Euros + expenses. In case you want to share one of the big rooms with someone else, talking to the owner needed.
Flat in Curros Enriquez 1: 4 Rooms available (the double room with bath is reserved by a portuguese couple, one room is reserved by a French girl, another room is reserved by a Slovenian girl), 2 bathrooms, 1 living room, 1 hall, TV, Hi-Fi, heating, washing machine, dish washer, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!). There's a parking place for the flat but you have to talk to the owner in case you're interested. Great views of La Coruña, best location to go to the University by bus as usual!!! Conditions, if 5 people 750 Euros per month + expenses, one room has a bathroom and has a big bed (or can have two beds if needed), so it's good for two people, the price could be around 250 Euros, so the rest could pay the same amount of money as the rooms are similar.

Flat at the end of Juan Florez (close to Alfonso Molina): 4 Rooms available, 2 bathrooms, 1 living room, 1 hall, TV, heating, washing machine, dish washer, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!). Best location to go to the University by bus as usual!!! Conditions, just 4 people in the flat (ok, maybe more ;-)) and 660 Euros per month + expenses.
Flat in Peruleiro: Renewed Appartment with 2 rooms, 1 bathroom, TV, heating, washing machine, dish washer, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!). Conditions, just 2 people in the flat around 300 Euros per month + expenses.
Flat in Fernando Macias: 4 Rooms available (Three rooms reserved), 2 bathrooms, 1 living room, 1 hall, 1 lumber room, heating, washing machine, dish washer, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!). 1 of the rooms can be a double room. Great View. Best location to go to the University by bus as usual!!! Conditions, talk to Abel!! :-) Good if you want to live with a Spanish guy!!
Flat in Emilia Pardo Bazán: 4 rooms (just 1 available, one is reserved by a German girl), 1 bathroom and 1 toilet, TV, Hi-Fi, Computer, DVD, Video, Internet, heating, washing machine, fridge, microwaves and all needed stuff in the kitchen, vacuum cleaner (I hope you use it!!!). Caution - Kaution - Caparra - Deposit

Salut Erasmus,

je voulais seulement vous expliquer comme on doit faire avec la caution. La caution est normalement d'un mois et ne sert jamais pour payer le dernier mois, elle est pour assurer la proprieté du logement.

Comment perdre la caution?

après avoir vecu là pendant la periode du contrat, on laisse l'appartement sans nettoyer.
on signe un contrat pour un periode de 5/6 mois ou 9/10 mois et on s'en va avant la finalisation de ce contrat (il y a peut-être quelque exception à ça).
on casse des choses dans l'appartement et on ne les repare pas.
en faisant des fêtes qui enervent les voisins
et en général en faisant des choses contraires à l'esprit du contract

volevo soltanto spiegarvi come fare con la caparra. La caparra è normalmente di un mese e non è mai per pagare l'ultimo mese, lei è soltanto per assicurare la proprietà dell'alloggio.

Como perdere la caparra?

dopo aver vissuto durante il periodo del contratto, si lascia l'appartamento senza pulire.
si segna un contratto per un periodo di 5/6 mesi o 9/10 mesi e uno va via prima di finalizzare questo contratto (ci sono forse alcune eccezioni)
rompendo cose nell'appartamento senza ripararle.
facendo feste chi arrabbino i vicini di casa.
ed in generale facendo cose contrarie allo spirito del contratto.

I just wanted to explain you how to do with the deposit. The deposit is usually a month amount and is never to pay the last month, it's only to assure the ownership of the accommodation.

How to lose the deposit?

after having lived in the flat during the contract period, leaving the flat without cleaning it before.
you sign a contract for 5/6 months or 9/10 months and you decide to leave the flat before the end of the contract (there're probably some exceptions)
breaking furniture and other stuff in the flat without repairing it.
organizing parties that may drive the neighbours angry.
and in general acting against the contract.

Ich wollte nur ein bisschen, wie es mit der Kaution ist, erklären. Die Kaution ist normalerweise eine Monatmiete und ist niemals, um die letzte Monat zu bezahlen, die ist nur, um das Eigentum der Wohnung zu versichern.

Nicht die Wohnung geputzt haben, nach da während der Vertragszeit gewohnt zu haben.

Flats and Conditions

Hi Erasmus,

I've been recently talking to some flat owners and I haven't liked what I've heard and seen ... some of the former Erasmus students have left the flats in really bad conditions, some flats have to be repainted in less than a year, some broken panes, neighbours complaints, unpaid bills, ... like that it's impossible to keep the flats from a year into another. The flats you might get through GaIA are really good ones, always over the average quality and with good flat owners (they don't make problems), so the rules are very simple: Keep the flat in the same state you have found it and pay what you consume, the idea is just to be as fair as the owners are with you. I have had to post this as I've been forced to convince some owners to rent their flats again to Erasmus students ...

I hope you understand this.

Clarifications and Explanations

Dear Erasmus students and other exchange students,

I think it's important to limit what GaIA can do for you, as you're really many people with different wishes and thoughts, we have to state what we can do for you and what we can't due to our poor means and the city conditions:

What we do is basically and mainly:
1. Look for a suitable accommodation (according to the flats market in A Coruña) even for people who remains in the city for just 3 or 4
months. We'll translate everything in the contract AS IS, so that you understand anything contained in it.
2. Give information about basic things related to your life in A Coruña
3. Try to make your integration in the city easier through parties, meetings and excursions.

What we don't do:
1. Look for a too cheap accommodation in comparison with the average price, that is, less than 100 Euros per month (average price per room between 135 and 150 Euros per month + expenses).
2. Look for an accommodation that is not common in A Coruña like one-room or two-room flats, they're expensive and very difficult to
find it.
3. Babysitting, we don't do that either.

Some explanation for people who don't stay from the beginning of october till the end of june:

Spanish students stay here for the whole course, it's very difficult to find a Spanish student accepting to stay with someone who's not going to remain the whole course as in La Coruña in most cases you rent a flat ... not a room, so when someone leaves the flat, the others remaining there have to pay what that someone was. People who don't stay the whole course usually leave in between the beginning and
the end of February, which is a critical month for exams. I hope you understand making a person think how to get another student in such a
complicated time is adding one more worry.

Some explanation for people who think that living with Spanish people make the language learning easier:

The answer to this question is yes, no, maybe. There're cases of people living with other non spanish speaking students that have learnt a really good Spanish in two months because in Spain our living room is the street. There're cases of people living with spanish students that haven't learnt anything in a year.

So as an ending phrase I could say that: in www.au-gaia.tk we get good things for you foreign/Erasmus student but we can't make miracles!!!
